Papalotzin International Community

In order to continue the  work on our joint Fair Trade Project, 4th and 5th graders from Colegio Sagrado Corazón – México went back to visit El Herrero in Querétaro, Mexico.

They brought four new sewing machines donated by Sacred Heart Primary School at Newcastle where Mr Kevin Foster, Headteacher has been the leader of this effort during these two years of work, as well as more than one hundred books, out of a lot donated by Editorial Planeta, a Mexican publishing house.

They also visited Varsolilla, another community in Querétaro, where the women received two sewing machines donated by our school in Mexico City as well as the rest of the books for the children and the adults of this community.

Last February 20 Preschool celebrated the “English Day”. The theme was Sustainable Education with the slogan “Let’s save the World”. Each presentation gave advice on how to take care of our planet: respecting and caring for the animals, plants and ourselves. This event was the climax of several aspects worked during the whole month in different didactic situations. The parents could witness the great work their children did and appreciate the results with the exhibition of products and the pictures of their children working. This event also showed the progress of the students in the acquisition of English. Children’s comments:

“I liked that they gave me an invitation for the English Day” – Roberto, 1°A.

 “I liked it very much because my grandparents and parents came” – Kaysa, 2°A.

125 RAZONES PARA AGRADECER TANTO BIEN RECIBIDO

Un colegio es la historia de tantas niñas, jóvenes, mujeres, laicos y religiosas, que se han educado en el Colegio Sagrado Corazón en esta ciudad, en este país. 

Las manos que aparecen en el  logo de este año representan las manos de Jesús que nos han recibido aqui, que se abren para enseñarnos a tender las nuestras a otras personas con necesidades diferentes:

           Nuestras manos que se abren para expresar con  ellas los gestos y actitudes del Corazón de Jesús.

         Manos que se abren porque quieren ser en nuestro México expresión de los sentimientos del Corazón de Jesús.

Estamos aqui porque hubo mujeres con grandes sueños que deseaban dar a conocer el amor del Corazón de Jesús en México. Mujeres que no les importó pasar por tiempos de dictadura, revolución, persecución y exilio con tal de que a través de la educación, el amor del Corazón de Jesús fuera dado a conocer.

125 años de sabernos parte de una gran familia que hoy está no sólo en los colegios, sino trabajando en algunas ciudades, entre campesinos e indígenas en México y en 44 países del mundo, formando un solo corazón y una sola alma en el Corazón de Jesús.

“On behalf of the children, staff, governors and parents of Sacred Heart Primary School, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, I would like to send you our warmest congratulations on the 125th. anniversary of your school. We will all be thinking of you today and we will pray, during our assembly at 2:30pm. this afternoon, for all of you. Woman who prays always

May she always remain a model of inspiration to all of us beyond any borders

In Mexico we do not celebrate Halloween but we do commemorate our dead relatives.

Here is a poem from Netzahualcóyotl, an Aztec King and some pictures of the altar we made last November 1st. 2008.

In November 2008 we initiated work at Carrollton in Miami. Stuart (Princeton, N.J.), ASH Rosary (New Orleans, LA), Convent of the Sacred Heart (Greenwich, CT), Carrollton (Miami, FLA), Sacred Heart School Chicago, Trinidad del Monte (Bogotá, Colombia), and Colegio Sagrado Corazón – México got together to analyze the objectives of the program, and to create new strategies for the near future.

It’s been an enriching experience to explore the potential that the international family of the Sacred Heart has when we work together.

We ask Mater to bless each one of our communities, as a place of love and fraternity.

On 6th October, 2008  Kilgraston opened its doors to European schools for the presentation of the Papalotzin International Program, made by the International Department in Mexico. All of us enjoyed the warm hospitality of our wonderful host. 

 Everyone contributed with great insight and ideas easily flowed within a family atmosphere.
