In Mexico we do not celebrate Halloween but we do commemorate our dead relatives.

Today we initiated work at Carrollton in Miami. Stuart (Princeton, N.J.), ASH Rosary (New Orleans, LA), Convent of the Sacred Heart (Greenwich, CT), Carrollton (Miami, FLA), Sacred Heart School Chicago, Trinidad del Monte (Bogotá, Colombia), and Colegio Sagrado Corazón - México got together to analyze the objectives of the program, and to create new strategies for the near future.

It’s been an enriching experience to explore the potential that the international family of the Sacred Heart has when we work together.

Papalotzin flew across the Atlantic to Kilgraston and Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

On 6th October Kilgraston opened its doors to European schools for the presentation of the Papalotzin International Program, made by the International Department in Mexico. All of us enjoyed the warm hospitality of our wonderful host. 

 Everyone contributed with great insight and ideas easily flowed within a family atmosphere. Attending the meeting were

Papalotzin voló a través del Atlántico a Kilgraston y Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

El 6 de octubre Kilgraston  abrió sus puertas a los colegios europeos para la presentación del programa internacional Papalotzin hecho por el Departamento Internacional en México. Todos disfrutamos la cálida hospitalidad de nuestro maravilloso anfitrión.

Taiwán

 Taiwán fue un sueño inolvidable, que cambió mi vida para siempre. Fue un momento mágico en el cual me vi involucrada en una realidad completamente diferente, la cual me hizo reflexionar, aprender, madurar y abrir mi vida y mi corazón a personas extraordinarias, con características muy especiales y únicas. 

Aprendí que a pesar de hablar el mismo idioma, la cultura influye mucho en la manera de actuar y de pensar de las personas. Por lo que siempre hay que expresar de la mejor manera todo lo que sentimos y pensamos. 

Como el campamento fue un campamento de intercambio cultural aprendí un poco de la cultura de cada una de las niñas que formó parte de éste. Descubrí que tenemos muchísimas cosas en común entre las diferentes culturas, las cuales son más fuertes que las diferencias que pueda haber entre ellas.  

Por esto, la convivencia que hubo entre nosotras fue extremadamente buena y cumplió con todas mis expectativas, además de haber aprendido  muchísimas cosas sobre la cultura china y taiwanesa, como lo son, entre otras: mandarín básico, cocina china y taiwanesa, baile folklórico taiwanés, arte folklórico taiwanés, historia, costumbres y tradiciones, caligrafía y tallado.

Yo creo que lo más importante para mi, y lo que siempre se quedará en mi corazón, es lo que significa para mi ser una alumna del Sagrado Corazón, un aspecto de mi vida que me define, del cual estoy muy orgullosa, y me hace muy feliz.; así como también las amistades y lazos que  de éste surgieron, las cuales estoy segura durarán para siempre. 

Y como aprendí en Taiwán: 

                                                  WO I TAIWAN!  (YO AMO TAIWAN)

 Doy infinitas gracias al Sagrado Corazón de Taiwán, al Sagrado Corazón de México,a las dos familias que me hospedaron y a mis amigos, por ¡TODO! 

Pero más importante, doy gracias a mis papás, por esta inolvidable experiencia.

I learned that it doesn’t matter if you are speaking the same language, the culture influences a lot in the way of acting and thinking of people. That’s why we always have to express our feelings and thoughts in the best way. 

As it was a cultural exchange camp, I learned a bit of the culture of every girl who attended the camp. I discovered that we have a lot of similarities between cultures, which are stronger than the differences we may have. That’s why the relationship between us was extremely good, and it achieved all my expectations, besides learning a lot of things about the Chinese and Taiwanese cultures such as: basic Mandarin conversation, Chinese and Taiwanese cooking, folk Taiwanese dance, folk Taiwanese art, history, costumes and traditions, calligraphy and carving. 

I think that the most important thing and the one which will always remain in my heart, is how important it is to me being a Sacred Heart student. Part of my life which defines me, which I am very proud of,  and which makes me really happy. Just as well as friendship and bonds that were created in it. The ones I am sure that will last forever! 

And as I learned in Taiwan..  

WO I TAIWAN (I LOVE TAIWAN) 

I give infinite thanks to Taiwan’s Sacred Heart School, Mexico’s Sacred Heart School, my two host-families and friends for EVERYTHING. 

But most important, I thank my parents for this unforgettable experience.

INTERCAMBIO CULTURAL A TRAVÉS DE LOS COLEGIOS DEL SAGRADO CORAZÓN

En el mes de Junio tuve la oportunidad de conocer a Karen y Alexa que vinieron del Colegio Newton Country Day School of the Sacred Heart en Boston.

Alexa y yo estuvimos platicando, nos pudimos conocer mejor viendo las cosas que nos gustan y las que no, las semejanzas y diferencias de nuestras escuelas y países, y fue en este momento en el que me di cuenta de que cada una de nosotras tiene sus tradiciones, y que al juntarlas o experimentarlas tendríamos la oportunidad de conocer más sobre el otro país, colegio y la otra persona, así que hice lo que pude para que ella tuviera la oportunidad de experimentar otras cosas conociendo la escuela, las tradiciones y la comida mexicana.

En conclusión, conocer a Alexa me dio una visión más amplia de la red de colegios del Sagrado Corazón y todo lo que les podemos enseñar y aprender de ellos.

 In June I had the chance to meet Karen and Alexa, who came from the Newton Country Day School of the Sacred Heart in Boston.The time that Alexa and I were together gave us a chance to get to know each other, our likes and dislikes and the differences and similarities of our countries and schools. At that moment I found out that each one of us has different traditions and if we put them together and experiment them we can have the chance to get to know more about the other person, school and country, so I did what I could to make her have the chance to experiment other things, looking at the school, telling her about our traditions and tasting Mexican food. In conclusion, meeting Alexa gave me a new vision of the Sacred Heart School network and all we could teach and learn from each other.

“We began our celebrations of Sacred Heart Day with a Eucharist on our Harbour Terrace of our whole school community from K-12, Staff and the sisters from the Sydney area.
We then had a day of celebrations with special morning tea, a Sacred Heart Assembly and a Mission Fete to raise money for Sacred Heart projects in India. It was a great celebration of our communityWe all wear red and white to celebrate!”

OUR CELEBRATION IN MEXICO CITY

NUESTRA CELEBRACIÓN EN LA CIUDAD DE MÉXICO

Previamente para la misa, cada grupo eligió a una niña de cada salón que debía tener un corazón grande y manifestara amor hacia los demás sin importar sus defectos o cualidades.  A las niñas electas les dieron 25 cms.  de listón rojo, con  los cuales formaron  el corazón del colegio. Este corazón formado por listones  fue enviado  a Lima, Perú donde se reunirán los representantes de las religiosas del Sagrado Corazón en el mundo y ahí unirán todos los corazones de todas las escuelas.  La misa se concelebró con dos sacerdotes quienes favorecieron nuestra participación con la homilía  fácil de entender y dándonos una enseñanza sobre Jesús en los colegios Sagrado Corazón.  Las niñas formamos el corazón. Martha Baca (directora general del colegio) tomó la mano de la niña más pequeña que formaba parte del corazón y así tomándonos las manos rodeamos a todos los que conformamos la escuela del Sagrado Corazón de México (maestros, alumnos, personal ). Con esto nos dimos cuenta de que todos los Colegios del Sagrado Corazón estamos unidos en un solo corazón,  que es el de Jesús. Ana Paola Martínez Corral, María Amozurrutia Prada, Luisa Castillo Gavito.Alumnas de 6º. año de primaria

“Desde el colegio Sagrado Corazón de Chorrillos - Chalet en el  Perú  también el 30 de mayo pasado nos unimos en oración por frutos del próximo capítulo… Después pasamos a la eucaristía y al compartir…Rezamos todas juntas por el próximo capítulo que se realizará aquí en el Perú. Queremos compartir también que una de las actividades que realizarán las hermanas se realizará en nuestro colegio.. El encuentro de bailes folklóricos… las esperamos con mucha ilusión y agradecimiento.”

 BLOG PARA CONSULTAR Y PROPONER PROYECTOS

As a result of the many suggestions we have received from our educational community, we have opened a space in our on-line platform in order to publish Project proposals by the Papalotzin participants. 

The purpose of this space is twofold: 

a.   So that I will be able to examine proposals originated by others and see if I am interested in making contact and participating. 

b.   So that other teachers can see my proposals and make contact with me in case they are interested in working together on my project. 

This space is called “Proposal’s Blog” and it is for the exclusive use of the teachers participating in Papalotzin. When accessing any of the EXTRANET icons with their login and password, click the left column, at the very end as shown in the following image. The blog will open. 

The procedure to publish a proposal is simple: 

1.    Send your proposal to info@papalotzin-csc.com.mx 

2.    The General Administrator will upload your information on the “Proposal’s Blog” where there will be a brief description of the project, the originating source, and the characteristics needed to participate in it. 

3.    In case there is someone interested in any of the published projects, please ask to be contacted with the person who originated the project at info@papalotzin-csc.com.mx

Como resultado de todas las sugerencias recibidas de nuestra comunidad educativa, hemos abierto un espacio en nuestra plataforma en línea con el propósito de publicar propuestas de proyectos a trabajar con los participantes Papalotzin. Este espacio tiene dos propósitos: 

a.   Poder examinar las propuestas de otros para ver si alguna es de mi interés, quiero hacer contacto y participar. 

b.   Que otros maestros vean mis propuestas para quien se interese, pueda contactarme y trabajar conmigo. 

El espacio se llama “Proposal’s Blog” y es exclusivo para maestros participantes de Papalotzin. Al entrar en cualquiera de los espacios EXTRANET con su clave y contraseña, en la columna de la izquierda, al final, deberán dar “clic” y se abre el blog, como se muestra a continuación:

Los pasos para publicar una propuesta son los siguientes:

2.    La Administradora General, subirá la información al “Proposal’s Blog” en donde hará una descripción breve del proyecto, especificará qué colegio originó la propuesta y qué características se necesitan para participar en él. 

3.    En caso de que haya una persona interesada en alguno de los proyectos publicados, deberá solicitar que lo pongan en contacto con la persona que originó el proyecto a info@papalotzin-csc.com.mx
